... Eva Drangsholt's video is slow and reminiscent of sleepwalking; from a floating parade on a canal in Amsterdam; young, beautiful, dancing bodies in slow motion ...
... Drangsholt's video “Carnival” assigns significance to the spectator; the foreground of the film shows three spectators that are part of this celebration of the body and (homo) sexuality. While we, as art audience, become the outsiders. We are watching the onlookers of the parade, and the parade in the background, while simultaneously seeing a work of art. What is this about? Reality as a construction? The constructed norm that produces deviancy? ...
... A poetic video portrait of this most phallic of animals. We follow the swan’s movements quietly, poetically, and meditatively like a long, mildly ecstatic, contemplation on the fact that only to exist in this world, viewed ideally, is a crushing enjoyment.
